The Rock Ridge Turkey Trot 5K and Food Drive returns for its seventh year on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at 9 AM in Denville. Runners line up in front of the Rock Ridge Community Club clubhouse, 53 Entrance Way, Denville, NJ 07834, for a 3.1 mile loop on the roads around Rock Ridge Lake.

This is a true neighborhood race, organized by the volunteers of the Rock Ridge Community Club and held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving so it does not compete with holiday morning plans. A kids fun run follows the 5K and is free, which makes it an easy family outing. Awards go to the fastest adult and the fastest child.

The food drive is a big part of the day. Participants are encouraged to bring food donations, and everything collected goes to local food pantries ahead of the holidays, when need is highest. Even if you are not running, it is a good excuse to clean out the pantry and drop off canned goods.

Registration for the in-person 5K is $30 on the Rock Ridge Turkey Trot page on RunSignup, and registration stays open until 8:50 AM on race day. One safety note from the organizers: the roads around the lake stay open to traffic during the race, so runners and walkers should use caution and stay aware of cars.

Rock Ridge Lake is one of the many lake communities that give Denville its nickname, the Heart of Lakeland, and the loop makes for a pretty late fall run with the leaves mostly down. If you want to grab breakfast after, our Denville, NJ local guide covers the downtown cafes and diners, and our roundup of turkey trots in New Jersey has more races for Thanksgiving week.

The seventh Rock Ridge Turkey Trot 5K and Food Drive is Sunday, November 22, 2026, at 9 AM in front of the Rock Ridge Community Club clubhouse, 53 Entrance Way, Denville, NJ 07834. The in-person 5K is $30 and the kids fun run is free.
