Guess what’s coming to Route 10 in Whippany: a tavern style restaurant with its own brewery. The Hanover Township Planning Board has approved the project at 476 Route 10 West, and it comes with about 143 seats, an on-site brewing area and outdoor patio seating.
The applicant and owner is Whippany Village Partners II, LLC. The board approved the application with conditions on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, and memorialized the resolution on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, according to the township’s notice of decision.
According to the planning board record, the plan is a building of about 5,600 square feet to be used as a tavern style restaurant and brewery. About 970 square feet of it will be the beverage manufacturing area, which is where the beer gets made on site. The plans also include an outdoor lounge seating area along with other outdoor patio areas.
The approval covers changes to a 2019 approval for Phase IV of the property, plus final site plan approval for that phase and bulk variance relief. The site is listed as Block 7402, Lot 2.01, in the township’s WC zone.
What the record does not say is the name. The application does not identify the restaurant or brewery that will run the space, and no opening date has been announced. Hanover Township’s land use office keeps the full resolution on file for anyone who wants to inspect it. That leaves the fun part open: is it a brand new local brewery, or a tavern group expanding into Morris County?
A brewpub would be a new kind of stop for this stretch of Route 10, which already has some of the township’s favorite dinner spots. For now, see our guide to the best restaurants in Whippany and our list of the best breweries in Morris County. We will update this story as soon as the name comes out.
