Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is on stage now at The Growing Stage, the children’s theatre company that calls the Historic Palace Theatre in Netcong home. The production opened October 9 and runs three performances a weekend through Sunday, October 25, 2026, which leaves two weekends to catch it.
It is the first show of The Growing Stage’s 45th Main Stage Season, and it is a big one: the Tony Award winning musical about a bookish girl who stands up to the grown-ups in her life, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Dennis Kelly.

Where It Is
The Growing Stage performs at the Historic Palace Theatre, 7 Ledgewood Avenue in Netcong, on the banks of Lake Musconetcong. The box office opens one hour before each performance. Parking and accessibility details are on the theatre’s visit page.
Tickets
Individual tickets are sold through The Growing Stage’s online box office, and season subscriptions are available on the season tickets page. You can also call the box office at (973) 347-4946. Group rates are available, which makes this an easy pick for scout troops, birthday outings, and school groups.
Who Is in the Cast
The production pairs 20 young performers with professional actors from around North Jersey. The professional cast includes Sean Quigley of Ringwood as Miss Trunchbull, Jolee Morris of Morristown as Miss Honey, Davis Cameron Lemley of Cedar Grove as Rudolpho, Donald Danford of Andover as Mr. Wormwood, Gianna Porfano of Lebanon as Mrs. Wormwood, and Maria Varela of Netcong as Mrs. Phelps.
Growing Stage founder and executive director Stephen L. Fredericks directs, with musical direction by Liz Rosa and choreography by Kaya Snow.
Why It Is Worth the Trip
The Growing Stage has been producing professional theatre for young audiences since the early 1980s, and its shows are built for families, with kids on stage alongside professional actors in a historic theatre. Matilda works for elementary school kids and up, and parents tend to love Miss Trunchbull as much as the kids do.
