This weekend: Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6, 2026

This is Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer, and it is the busiest weekend on the calendar. Two of the county’s biggest traditions run all weekend, both wrap up Sunday night, and Monday, September 7 is the holiday itself. Here is what is worth the trip.

Boonton Fire Department Labor Day Carnival, Thursday, September 3 to Sunday, September 6, Boonton. The county’s classic Labor Day carnival runs all weekend at the Boonton High School field, 306 Lathrop Avenue. Rides, games, food, and a beer garden with live music each night. Friday runs 6 to 11 p.m., Saturday 3:30 to 11 p.m. with the 135th annual Labor Day parade stepping off at 1:30 p.m., and Sunday 3 to 11 p.m. capped by the fireworks finale at 10 p.m. Admission to the grounds is free. Lead East, Thursday, September 3 to Sunday, September 6, Parsippany. The 44th annual Lead East, billed as the largest oldies party around, takes over the Hilton Parsippany at 1 Hilton Court with hundreds of classic cars, live concerts, vendors, and a sock-hop atmosphere all weekend. One-day admission is $20 for adults and $15 for kids 12 to 16, and a full weekend wristband is $55 for adults and $45 for kids. Read our Lead East 2026 preview.

Farmers markets, Saturday and Sunday. The county’s markets are still in full late-summer swing with corn, tomatoes, peaches, and the first apples of the season. Our Morris County farmers markets guide has every town, every day, and every detail so you can find whichever one is open near you.

• September 19, Parsippany. The 23rd annual Parsippany Fall Festival returns to Smith Field Park.
• September 19 and 20, Rockaway Township. Germania Park’s Oktoberfest.
• September 26, Kinnelon. KFEST returns to Borough Hall.
• September 26, Whippany. Hanover Township’s Food, Wine and Brew Festival at Bee Meadow Park.
• September 26 and 27, Chester. Chester Lions Oktoberfest and Antique Car Show at Chubb Park.
• September 27, Morristown. Festival on the Green with 170 exhibitors and five entertainment areas.
• October 3, Madison. Bottle Hill Day returns to downtown Madison for its 51st year.
• October 4, Denville. The Denville Food Truck Festival returns to Gardner Field.
• October 11, Montville. Montville Day at the Community Park Amphitheater.
• October 23 to 25, Rockaway. FoodeesFest brings 40 plus food vendors to Rockaway Townsquare.
• October 24, Roxbury. The Fall Market at Horseshoe Lake Park.
