Garlic takes over Denville, two farmers markets open for the season, a 200 year old gristmill throws itself a birthday party, and Sunday lands on Flag Day with a free colonial concert in Whippany. Here is the weekend laid out by day and time.

Saturday, June 13, 2026

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Morris Plains Farmers Market Opening Day. The market returns for its 24th season at 531 Speedwell Avenue in Morris Plains with Jersey Fresh produce, baked goods, and local vendors, running Saturdays through October 10. Details

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Boonton Farmers Market. Shop fresh produce and goods from local makers with live music at Canal Side Park in Boonton. Details

9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Community Yoga at the Great Swamp. A 45 minute slow flow class at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham Township, followed by tea and time to explore the park. Beginners welcome. Details

10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cooper Gristmill 200th Birthday Celebration. The Morris County Park Commission celebrates 200 years of the Cooper Gristmill in Chester with historic trade and craft demonstrations, food and drink, and special tours throughout the day. Details

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family Photo Scavenger: Blossoms and Butterflies. June is peak butterfly season at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township. Finish the family scavenger hunt and get a prize. The hunt runs Saturday and Sunday. Details

11:00 a.m. American Folktales at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. A family friendly performance at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Tickets run $20 to $25. Tickets

1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Medicinal Plants Tour at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Walk the gardens to see plants with a long history of use as food and medicine, ending with a tea tasting. Details

2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Denville Garlic Fan Fest. The third annual celebration of all things garlic takes over Todd Johnson Field, 34 Savage Road in Denville, with garlic dishes, vendors, and live entertainment. Details

10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Family Nature Walk at the Great Swamp. Bring the whole family on this free guided walk at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham Township. Details

3:00 p.m. Echoes of Liberty Colonial Concert. The Hanover Wind Symphony marks Flag Day with a free patriotic concert at Memorial Junior School, 61 Highland Avenue in Whippany. Details

Worth a Stop This Weekend
