SubscribeSeptember is when Morris County trades its summer concert schedule for fall festival season, and the calendar fills up fast. From Labor Day carnivals and street fairs to Oktoberfests, craft shows, and a downtown festival that draws tens of thousands, here is our month-long guide to things to do in Morris County in September 2026. We rounded up the events worth planning your weekends around, with dates, locations, and links to everything you need to know.
Labor Day Weekend Kicks Things Off
The month opens with two of the county’s biggest community traditions. The Boonton Fire Department Labor Day Weekend Carnival runs Thursday, September 3 through Sunday, September 6 at the Boonton High School field on Lathrop Avenue, with free admission, amusement rides, a Labor Day parade on Saturday, September 5, and a fireworks finale on Sunday, September 6. A few miles north, Riverdale’s Annual Labor Day Street Fair and Food Truck Fest takes over the Newark Pompton Turnpike on Monday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with more than 100 vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment. Both are free to attend.
Feasts, Craft Shows, and Remembrance in Mid-September
The second week of the month blends the solemn and the celebratory. Rockaway Township hosts a 9/11 Candlelight Vigil at Park Lake on Friday, September 11. The next day, the 53rd Annual Fall Chester Craft Show fills Municipal Field in Chester Borough on Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 175 juried makers. Sunday, September 13 is a busy one: the NJ Feast of San Gennaro returns to Fireman’s Field in Mine Hill with Italian food, live music, and a church procession, while the Florham Park Public Library opens its free Second Sundays series with a Jim Croce tribute at 2 p.m.
Oktoberfests, Brewfests, and a Town-Wide Yard Sale
The third weekend leans into craft beverages and German heritage. Boonton Brewfest pours local beer, wine, and spirits with live music at Canal Side Park on Saturday, September 19, the same morning Rockaway Township holds its first Town-Wide Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. That weekend, Germania Park’s German-American Oktoberfest runs Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20, in Rockaway Township, with Bavarian music, food, and admission of $10.
A Packed Final Weekend
Morris County saves some of its best for last. Saturday, September 26 is stacked: Kinnelon’s KFEST fall celebration takes over the Borough Hall grounds from 1 to 8 p.m. with more than 100 vendors, a beer garden, and 8 p.m. fireworks; the Hanover Township PBA Food, Wine and Brew Festival runs 12 to 6 p.m. at Bee Meadow Park in Whippany; Lincoln Park Day returns to Main Street; and Orangetheory Fitness Rockaway hosts a community wellness event and ribbon cutting. The Chester Lions Oktoberfest Weekend and Antique Car Show fills Chubb Park both Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27. The month closes Sunday, September 27 with the Morristown Festival on the Green, the 31st annual downtown street festival with 170 exhibitors and five entertainment areas.
Concerts, Foliage, and Farm Season
September is a transition month for the outdoors, too. The Morris Museum’s Back Deck outdoor concert series wraps its 2026 run with a final show on Thursday, September 10 in Morristown. As the leaves start to turn, county farms open for apple picking and pumpkin picking, with corn mazes, hayrides, and cider donuts across the area. For everything beyond September, our Fall Festivals and Fairs in Morris County guide maps out the whole season by month.
Whether you are chasing Oktoberfest steins, craft show finds, or a fireworks finale, Morris County gives you a full month of reasons to get outside. Check individual event pages before you go, since dates and hours can change.
Looking ahead to fall: fall festivals and fairs, Halloween events and trick or treat times, haunted houses and Halloween attractions, and the best apple cider donuts.
